ABOUT THE MUNDI PROJECT

Founded in 2006, the Mundi Project seeks to foster a love of music in the world by making arts education and performance accessible to all young people along the Wasatch Front, Our work is focused on but not limited to the piano.

Mundi is unique in the Salt Lake area, both in the services it provides and in its strong commitment to multi-disciplinary arts outreach through concerts and workshops. The Mundi Project operates two programs: the Piano Bank and Piano Ambassadors.

From July 2007 through April 2010, the Piano Bank successfully placed thirty- eight donated pianos in private homes and public spaces.

Including:

pianos and keyboards in the piano lab at the Salt Lake Arts Academy (a public charter school)

Sorenson Unity Center

Crocker House at the University of Utah

Utah Cultural Celebration Center

The Piano Ambassadors program develops at least one multi-disciplinary concert a year, using the piano as the cornerstone instrument and incorporating literature/poetry, dance/theater, and visual arts.
In preparation for these concerts, the Mundi Project holds piano auditions and workshops to promote excellence in arts education across the disciplines. The Piano Ambassadors program encourages pianists at all levels of proficiency to work together to improve musical skills and develop performance opportunities.

We invite you to join us in our efforts to increase artistic opportunities for all Salt Lake City youth. A strong coalition of arts educators and supporters will help realize the dream that one day every young person in our city will have equal access to high-quality musical instruments and education.
